Shy dog class
So the shy dog class is gonna be pretty cool, I think. Liam responded really well, for him. No freak outs, and the instructor seems to know what she's doing with shy dogs. Every other dog in the class is female- a corgi, a BC (who is so like Liam used to be it's not funny) and an Italian Greyhound.
We did this exercise that involves a stranger chucking food at the dog, and when the dog goes to get it, takes a step back. Hi, heeding. Draws the dog to the person. Turns out Liam loves hotdogs. His bag involves string cheese, hotdogs, natural balance rolls, and chicken/venison jerky. Big hit. Also worked on what she calls the "auto check-in". Basically, you keep a jackpot set of treats handy, and when your dog looks at you, it's the best thing on earth. I was impressed, actually. He barely took his eyes off me after the first few times. I got totally covered in spit for that one.
All in all, this should be a good class. Looking forward to next week.
