I have a new saddle! Hopefully this one will actually work out, instead of causing me massive amounts of pain/discomfort when I ride. I love ebay. It'll darken with oiling, and yay for oxbow stirrups! I'm very broke now, but this is an investment for when I graduate... if I went out there with a pleather saddle I'd get laughed at and not taken seriously at all. New saddle!!
Then I got into Jumping. Meh.
Kim expects a lot of us in Jumping Theory, which is not something I'm used to. It's the first class of the day, we all woke up about 10 minutes before class started, and we're all a little stupid. That's pretty much all I have to say on that one.
Showing was icky, too. We've ridden pretty much every week, which is the disgusting part, wednesdays are supposed to be our day off. And the horse's day off. Apparently no one told Kate. So we rode today. I couldn't even ride Stripes, we had to share ponies with someone. Prolly better that I didn't anyway, he needs a break.
Got our midterm grades today, not too bad, got a B in Theory, huge shock there. Rest of 'em were A's. I'm not real thrilled with the B, but it'll do. Not really a way I'm gonna raise that grade, unless I miraculously get smarter about jumping theory. I can live with Honor Roll.
End of quarter is coming fast, which makes me happy, but I've got two projects I need to get done, one for next Monday, the other for end of quarter. The one for next week is for Horse Health, and it's kicking my ass. Should've chosen something slightly simpler to do. It's just a research paper on Angular Limb Deformities, but who says I remember how to do a research paper? The other one is my 11 Week Project for Teaching, that's on horses and their uses in Medieval Times. Always fun, though finding sources is a pain in the ass. Wikipedia is my friend. There's the greatest book no longer in print that would be perfect for the project, but the only copy I can find is about $90, and there's no way I'm spending that much on one book, no matter how useful it would be. Oh well.
So yeah, I was gonna do an intro, but you should know me if you're reading this. If you don't, read the profile, the important stuff is there.
Thinking about flying up home to get my truck, but the weekend I was planning on going is a weekend I'm supposed to feed. I'm gonna pay someone to take it, but I want company, and I'm willing to pay for someone's plane ticket, as long as they're not gonna back out on me last minute. Invited a couple of people, the person I really want to go may not be able to make it. Waiting for confirmation from her before I buy tickets. I want my truck, dammit.
Been looking at new jumping saddles... the one I have is gods-only-know how old and getting hard on my poor rear end. Been looking at the Wintec Close Contact with the Cair System and Easy Change Gullet... the price is right, I like the look, and it's not like I'm hugely serious about jumping, so I don't need something in leather.
There's a girl here with one, so I'm going to ride in it tomarrow and see how I like it. If I like it, I'm gonna get it. The gullet system is an additional $100, but it's worth it, I think. I need new boots too, but I'm gonna go look at Congress this weekend, good sales n stuff. My poor paddock boots are finally dying, and my half-chaps are too big... I dunno if they make 'em any narrower than those. So methinks I'm gonna look into the synthetic tall boots... I seem to like the synthetic stuff. Which is good, means I'll be able to afford it.
So to continue with my ramblings, I wanna get photos of me on Stripes when we're actually doing okay work. Decent quality photos would be awfully nice, I wanna put 'em in my portfolio, gotta find someone who can actually take good action shots. Liz can do it, but not for my 8AM riding class, which is mainly when I need em. I'd like to get photos on Glimmer, too. That's another thing I've gotta work on- my damn portfolio. I think I've finalized my resume and cover letter, I just need to work on the rest of it. Anyway, dinner's soon, and rumor has it it's General Tao's Chicken... not to be missed. Toodles!
