Today was cool/sad all at the same time. Everyone's leaving, which hasn't hit me fully yet, but I'm sure it will come monday when they're not around. We're making one last Panera run tonight.
In other news, I got first in both the pleasure class and reining pattern and got overall champ for the show, which was wicked cool. Peppy was so awesome in the show ring... a bit of a whore in the warmup, but I'd rather have that than be a whore in the show ring. Genny got first in eq and second in pleasure, so she was reserve, which was freaking awesome!! We had Jen hold the ribbons for the picture... partly because the horses were freaking out from the wind in the ribbons, but mostly because she won them as much as we did. That was so cool.
Got a great slide out of Peppy in the pattern, the mark was like, 20 feet. So much fun. Lost my hat in the run down, and it was just so much fun. Yay for good patterns.
Got a ton of photos at graduation, working on cleaning those up. Gotta get my stuff moved over to Frodo's room, in fact that's what I'm gonna do as soon as I'm done here. My last quarter is next quarter... I don't wanna leave, but I'm itching to go at the same time. Mine and Genny's grad ride is gonna be a riot, gonna start planning that tomarrow night. Ehehehehe.
Thank the gods that's over with.
Showmasters went well, shockingly enough. Got second on Glimmer in Training Level Test 2 (she picked up the wrong lead for the first time EVER! ARGH!) and 5th on Stripes in Hunter Hack. That horse is going to give me a heart attack... he's an ass all week, and perfect in the show ring. Jerk. His mum wanted pictures, so I begged for copies... he was all prettied up, and hey, I could always use more photos of the boyo. Stevie asked me today as I was warming up Glimmer why I'm always on ponies for Showmasters... I said something about Nancy's sense of humor and left it at that. She was so stinking cute today though, and she didn't lose her mind, so I was happy with her. Yay for spotted ponies!
These past few weeks have been highly entertaining, but I've also been super tired and busy, so I haven't really been able to update very well, or very much. I'll see what I can do to remedy that now.
Went to dinner with "the girls"(Katie, Liz, Kacey, and Erin) last weekend at the Gun Room, which was YUMMY! Yay for good food! Katie and I went to Liz's early to hang out and get girlied up... Liz did our hair... much spiffiness. The curl actually held all night, and through the next morning until I showered. No hairspray, nothing. Katie wasn't moving her neck/head after she got her hair done, and (obviously) got teased for it. ;) We watched Thrills and Spills before we left for dinner, that was amusing. Horses and riders doing well -and- wiping out... what more could three Manor girls ask for? Dinner was great, it's a really nice restaurant, so we tried to behave ourselves... alas, with little success. We started out okay, but Manor girls being Manor girls, it went downhill about halfway through the meal. Doesn't help I made a mess. Rude jokes and excessive giggling were about the extent of our fall-from-grace, but it was enough. That was fun. *grin*
Monday was the last day of real classes, then Showmasters practice began... tuesday was a nightmare. Glimmer lost her mind, and Stripes stopped so hard in front of the flower box I damn near came off over his ears. We barely made it over that fence all day. He also broke the last remaining piece of my nice bridle (the reins) by slamming into my hand over the fence (when he actually went over it) Yay for straightening... we straightened all the way into the wall with one rein attatched. Had a minor mental breakdown, ate chocolate, went over to Katie's for some Spamalot (very silly) and decided this wasn't worth the freaking out I was doing. The rest of the practices went fairly well, Glimmer got over herself, and so did Stripes by thursday. The awards assembly was... well, the awards assembly. Got Honor Roll, which I'm not thrilled with, but will do for getting along with. Dunno what my grades are yet, gonna have to wait until next week for that.
Been having "storytime" with Katie daily... I can't seem to get through the Lord of the Rings by myself, so she's been coming over and reading it to me, chapter by chapter since sometime last week. I've been enjoying the hell out of it thus far, we're starting with the first book, which I did manage to get through, but remembered little of. It makes for great wind-down time, and she's gained the nickname of The Narrator in Horse Health, so it's a pleasure to listen to.
Hugh's been battling fin rot consistantly for weeks... can't figure out what the hell's going on with him, can't figure out the stressor. I just gave up with the triple sulfas and I'm letting him work on it on it's own, with water changes... he hasn't lost any more fin yet, so I'm hoping it's working. I'll switch over to Melasel...whatever the hell it's name is if it doesn't clear up on it's own.
Other than that, I can't really think of anything. A few of us are going to DQ tonight to celebrate end of quarter and Amanda's Grand Champ in the show (go Amanda!!) and oh boy do I need a lot of chocolate. Anyway, I gotta call the guy in AZ and I need a nap. Have fun all!
It's been a little while since I've updated. I'm not really feeling like updating, but I figure I should.
Haven't been feeling very good for most of the week. Wednesday I went into a urgent care place in town to see what they had to tell me about why I'd been so damn tired all the time, the shaking/twitching I was doing, and why my left leg didn't work quite right. They drew some blood, said it may be an electrolyte imbalance and sent me home with instructions to drink lots of fluids and they'd have the blood tests back by friday. Felt much the same thursday, so I spent the morning in bed, and woke up around 1 to go to my career area classes. Got the blood results back yesterday, my red blood cell count is up, along with my hemoglobin and blood sugar, and I'm supposed to follow up with my doctor or at least get my CBC rechecked in 3-6 weeks. So I'm gonna do both when I go home for christmas. I still don't feel great, but I can function... feeling great will apparently have to wait a little bit.
Other than that there's not a whole lot going on. Glimmer continues to do awesome, now it's really down to me to actually remember the test next week... she's gonna be fine. Stripes was kinda high yesterday... about 20 minutes into the lesson, he lost his little mind and had a flailing session by the back gate. I seriously saw feet on both sides. Bucking apparently isn't expressive enough for him. There were bucks in there, but I guess he feels flailing all his legs gets his point across better. Dork. We had some nice collected canter after that, according to Kim, so what the hell, I took it and worked his little ass off. Once we got down to work he was fine, if not charging the fences like a maniac. I was seriously up in my stirrups, hauling back on his face in my half-halts, and all he was doing was charging through them. Hunter hack should be fun.
Anyway, I should finish up on my portfolio, the damn thing's due monday. Have fun all!
And I'm really damn excited! I don't get to take dressage and western, nor do I get to show in both a dressage test and a jump course, but both have worked out, in a way. I'm gonna ask Nancy if I can groom for her next quarter and get groom lessons, and Glimmer is doing so amazingly well in dressage class that I'm just gonna show her in the test and do hunter hack with Stripes, who is being a brat. I've gotta memorize Training Level Test 2, which shouldn't be too hard.
I've had a lot of homework this week, but it's pretty much all fun, so I've been enjoying the hell out of myself. Got my 11 week project done a week in advance and turned that in yesterday (got out of class a good hour and a half early and went to Panera with Katie! Yay!) I'm presenting it on tuesday, that'll actually be fun, it's on horses and their uses in medieval times. Lots of props and stuff to bring in with me.
Got a rough/turn-inable version of Liz's video done last night... hoping to to a better job without time constraints with a better program in a week or so, depending on when I get the proggy.
We dissected horse legs in horse health yesterday, that was wicked cool. I've done it before, so I had an idea of what to expect, and I got a hindleg up past the hock, so I got to check out the joint itself, which was spiffy. My leg didn't smell very good though, I dunno if it was frozen quickly enough. But that was the only icky part. This time wasn't as spiffy as the last time, but it was still worth it. Yay for playing with horse parts!
Katie's family is here for the weekend, so I got to go out to dinner with them tonight- fun bunch, and hey, Red Lobster's good stuff. Looking foreward to going up to their place for a day over christmas break. Yay for not having to fly!
Anyway, I should get working on my last 24 things and get that done so I don't have to deal with it during the week. Have fun all!
